Seventeen years ago, music was more likely to be on owner Laura Boton's mind, rather than hair cutting education and salon interior design. After attending De Paul's School of Music, Laura realized that classical voice was not her passion and instead decided to seek a career as a hairstylist. Her attraction to the creativity and flexibility of her newly chosen profession set her on a path to what is now Sine Qua Non Salons. After 6 years in the salon industry, while playing music with many different Chicago bands, Laura had an epiphany: "create the perfect salon environment." Her vision was to build and sustain a salon where growth, artistry, integrity, and a thriving culture came together in harmony. Inspired by the salon industry’s unique potential she set out on her quest to create a thriving, fashion focused and positive salon environment for both her employees and the valued guests that frequent it. With an undying focus on that vision, Sine Qua Non Salon began its continuing journey. Through Laura’s tenacious commitment to the people she employs, the team members incredible dedication to their craft, and the focus on giving a guest an experience that is second to none, Sine Qua Non has flourished to the success that it is today. With three successful salon locations in Chicago, and a fourth on the way, Laura's commitment to her Utopian vision of the perfect salon still drives and inspires her business.
